Orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Gil Ortega, will be first surgeon to use Googles latest technology to record and stream knee repair surgery. Google glass is a hands-free computer, worn like eyeglasses, that allows a person to perform a variety of tasks through verbal commands. The eyeglasses allow users to record videos, take photographs, search the internet and much more without obstructing the users view.
According to a Scottsdale Healthcare news release Ortega was chosen by Googles Glass Explorer program earlier this year.
The surgery will be broadcast to fellow orthopedic residents, surgeons, medical students in the United States. "I think Google Glass has great potential for use in healthcare and hopefully documenting and sharing this procedure will demonstrate that," Ortega told CBS 5.
Although advancements in technology have allowed for better life continuation, in some cases it has also caused further problems in the medical field. Less communication, hurriedness in diagnosing a patient, and even technological distractions could all lead to medical negligence.
If you or a loved one has experienced further medical complications or injuries due to medical malpractice from a doctor in Scottsdale, the victim may be entitled to compensation for medical expenses, lost wages, and more.
