Rollover Accident Closes Interstate 10

On Wednesday morning an car accident occurred on Interstate 10 westbound between Phoenix and Casa Grande which temporarily closed the interstate.

According the Department of Public Safety, one of the automobiles was flipped over following the collision, while one person was flown to a nearby hospital with serious injuries.

When Interstate 10 re-opened at 8am, the interstate was backed up for nearly two miles. Following the collision the interstate traffic was diverted onto Arizona 387 and Arizona 87 allowing drivers to enter Phoenix through the Loop 202 San Tan Freeway in Chandler.

According to the Arizona Department of Transportation, there were a total of 92,472 passenger vehicle accidents across our roadways throughout 2011, while 29,915 of these accidents resulted in injuries and 372 resulted in death.
