Can Law Firms in Arizona Pay Referral Fees to a Person Who Refers a Case?

Yes, when you refer a case to Phillips Law Group you may be eligible to receive compensation as a result of new ethical rules. Starting January 1, 2021, Arizona law firms can now provide payment to anyone in exchange for case referrals.

Arizona officially lifted the ban on fee sharing and referral payments between law firms and non-attorneys following the abolition of Ethical Rules 5.4 and 7.2(b) by the Arizona Supreme Court. The Arizona Rules of Professional Conduct now permit law firms to provide compensation, in exchange for case referrals, to non-lawyers and people who do not work for the firm. Prior to these changes, attorneys were only allowed to pay referral fees to other attorneys under special circumstances.

A referral fee program is a common method for finding clients that businesses use all around the world. Under these new ethical rules, law firms in Arizona will be able to grow their practices, and extend their services, to help a broader range of clientele through referral marketing.

My Attorney Sean Davis and his paralegal Hannah Dustin worked on my case. They listened to the problems that I was having with my case and they both got right to work. First they found me a doctor that actually listened to my problems from my car accident and worked quickly to form a plan that was comfortable for me and the doctor. The doctor was the best and after a couple of procedures the pain in my neck was gone. Behind the scenes Sean and Hannah were working hard to get my case settled with the insurance company.
