Police started receiving numerous calls about a hit-and-run accident and another from someone who believed they saw a child driving a car.
Local police, believing the children had been kidnapped, followed the vehicle and attempted to get the driver to pull over. On 19th Avenue and Cocopah the vehicle veered right and hit a pole. When police officers rushed to the car they realized the two children were alone and still wearing their pajamas.
The boy suffered minor injuries while his sister was taken to a local area hospital where she died from her injuries.
Authorities are still investigating the incident and trying to determine what prompted the children to leave home. The car accident lawyers from Phillips Law Group sends their condolences to the family who lost such a young child.
