- Man Accidentally Shot and Killed in Phoenix Gun Accident | Legal News | News Ticker
The ongoing debate regarding gun control and gun ownership rights is and always has been one of the most heated in both Arizona and in the United States. This debate has only intensified given recent tragic events in Tucson, but another incident has occurred that will certainly lead to more debate regarding gun ownership and responsibility. Tragically, this debate will be sparked by a fatality that occurred recently as a result of a Phoenix shooting accident. Police are investigating the matter, but as of now it appears to be a situation that quickly spun out of control.
According to authorities, the latest fatal Phoenix shooting accident occurred on Thursday night just before 10 p.m. Two men were handling a gun at that point near 95th Avenue and Palm Lane. For reasons yet to be determined, the gun went off and the ammunition struck one of the men. He was killed as a result despite efforts to save him. Police have been questioning both the man who was involved in the shooting and others in the home at the time, and as of now none of the names of those involved have been released.
Accidental Shooting Statistics
First and foremost, we’d like to offer our most sincere condolences to the family and friends of the man who was killed. Losing a life in such a violent and random manner is always tragic. In addition, this fatal Phoenix gun accident will now become part of the overall statistics nationwide regarding shooting accidents and injuries. Every year, approximately 200,000 people are injured as a result of gun fire, and nearly 1,000 people in the country are killed as a result of a mishap with a weapon.
Phoenix Wrongful Death Lawyers
Obviously, more investigation would be necessary in order to assign fault and to analyze the situation from a legal standpoint. However, if the man who shot the other was negligent in the handling of the gun, it could be possible for the family of the man who was killed to file an Arizona wrongful death lawsuit against the shooter. If such a lawsuit is filed and is successful, it could lead to an award of damages that compensates the family for their medical, funeral and burial costs as well as their lost income and loss of companionship.

Positive: Professionalism, Quality, Responsiveness, Value As someone who is familiar with the inner workings of the auto insurance industry I can whole heartedly endorse Steven J. Jones and Phillips law group as someone I would want on my side should litigation take place. They handled my case professionally, honestly, and with satisfactory results which I would not have expected without enlisting their help.
My Attorney Sean Davis and his paralegal Hannah Dustin worked on my case. They listened to the problems that I was having with my case and they both got right to work. First they found me a doctor that actually listened to my problems from my car accident and worked quickly to form a plan that was comfortable for me and the doctor. The doctor was the best and after a couple of procedures the pain in my neck was gone. Behind the scenes Sean and Hannah were working hard to get my case settled with the insurance company. They kept in contact with me on all aspects of my case. They settled my case much faster than I expected and for more than I was expecting. If you want two real professional legal people to work on your case, I would highly recommend Sean and Hannah to you. I cannot say enough nice things about these two. Thank you so much, Rickey Hart .

I was recently served court documents that I was being sued from an accident that happened years ago. For someone who has never been through something like this and not familiar with the court lingo or where to even begin, it was very frustrating and stressful. I reached out to a family member who knew Tracy Laskos and the great reputation of Phillips Law Group and within the hours of the initial call for help, I had a direct number to Lead Attorney Nassar. Nassar heard my case and almost instantly put me at ease by explaining the process and how easy it was to handle. Nassar spoke to me like he was a friend, not like I was a client. I am so grateful to Tracy, Nasar and of course my cousin Stephanie for helping out and giving me the direction that I needed to get through this situation. I plan on referring my friends, family and patients that are in need of a personal injury Attorney to Phillips Law Group. Thank you!!
A friend of mine recommended Phillips Law and I’m so grateful, because they were so wonderful, so down to earth, so professional. I felt like they were family.
Two family members were in a bad wreck a couple of years ago, and as a result called Phillips Law to represent them. Montana Thompson was the attorney assigned to the case with the help of Nemo Farr as legal assistant. Mr. Thompson litigated a very generous settlement for both my stepdaughter and her son. Because my grandson is a minor, I decided to act as conservator for him to ensure the settlement was safe and secure. Montana helped with that process, but it was Nemo who went way above and beyond the call in finding a financial institution to use for the restricted account. There were some glitches in that process but Nemo helped navigate them with a calm expertise which belies his age. I would consider them both great representatives of the level of commitment to their clients and assets to their firm.
