Several people have died and hundreds more have been injured from carbon monoxide poisoning caused by faulty vehicle keyless ignition systems.
Ten major auto makers were aware of the potentially deadly flaws with keyless ignition systems, yet they concealed the risks and continued to produce and sell vehicles with the dangerous systems in place.
If you or someone you love owns a vehicle with a key-free ignition, contact the defective product lawyers at the Phillips Law Group today.
You may be eligible to join a keyless ignition class action lawsuit and receive financial compensation for injuries caused by the inadequate ignition systems. You may also be eligible to receive compensation for your vehicle’s lost value.

Keyless Ignition Dangers
A keyless ignition system allows drivers to start and stop their vehicle by pushing a button instead of using a key. In order for the button to work, drivers carry a small device called a keyless fob that sends a wireless signal to the start/stop button.
Many consumers report not being aware that simply removing the keyless fob from the vicinity of their vehicle (which in turn stops the wireless signal from reaching the start/stop button) would not shut off the vehicle’s engine.
As a result, countless automobiles were left to run, allowing dangerous carbon monoxide to flow freely from the vehicles’ exhaust pipes.
Carbon monoxide is a colorless, odorless gas that is highly toxic and deadly. The gas can quickly fill a closed garage, where it can spread to attached homes, neighboring homes, and other buildings that are close to the running vehicle.
To date, 13 people have died from breathing in carbon monoxide fumes emitted from vehicles that were left to run unattended.
These keyless ignition deaths could have been prevented, according to the lawsuit, had the automakers simply installed software into their ignition switches that would shut down an engine if it had been idling for too long.
Have you or someone you know suffered injuries from keyless ignition carbon monoxide poisoning? If so, please contact the defective product attorneys at the Phillips Law Group as soon as possible.
You may be able to join a keyless ignition lawsuit and receive monetary compensation for your pain and suffering. Your consultation is free, and we only get paid if you win.

Vehicles Affected by Keyless Ignition Carbon Monoxide
The class action lawsuit claims that nearly five million vehicles were manufactured with key-free ignition switches that did not have any safety-related shut off software installed.
In these vehicles (the majority of which were manufactured before 2009), the engines will continue to run, no matter how far away from the car the driver takes the keyless fob.
Vehicles that may pose keyless ignition dangers include those manufactured by:
- BMW
- Fiat Chrysler
- Ford
- General Motors (GM)
- Honda
- Hyundai
- Nissan
- Toyota
- Volkswagen
- Mercedes Benz
- Infiniti
- Kia
- Acura
- Bentley
According to the keyless ignition lawsuit, the automakers were aware of the carbon monoxide issues, as well as the keyless ignition deaths, as far back as 2009.
In fact, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has received almost thirty complaints pertaining to keyless ignition carbon monoxide dangers since 2009.

I have been with Phillips Law Group for a little over a year and I have learned what teamwork and family in a workplace looks like. There is always someone around to lend a helping hand, which is something I appreciate and cherish. I feel a sense of joy coming to work every day because of my co-workers as well as being able to help people in what can be a scary and stressful situation. I currently work as a Litigation Legal Assistant with an amazing team. When I started here, I was not very knowledgeable in personal injury. I was lucky to have been placed with an amazing team who was willing to take time to teach and pass on some great skills that have been a huge aid in helping me be successful in my position. I would recommend working here at Phillips Law Group, because they care about their employees and there is so much room for growth.

Many companies talk about teamwork but few practice it. Many companies talk about an employee friendly environment but few actually provide it. At Phillips Law Group the foundation of our success is making sure we work as a team and that we work in an environment that allows everyone to thrive and be at their best every day. Our firm understands that in order for the client to have a great experience the people responsible for that client’s case must be given all the necessary tools and encouragement to make that happen. That’s the Phillips Way. As a manager of this firm in charge of several employees as well as directly affecting the client’s experience I take tremendous pride in saying we live by these premises and we work hard to build on them and make them better every day. This is an amazing place because it has amazing people working here!

Thank you Phillips Law Group for all the support and back to school assistance we appreciate it.

I’ve been working at Phillips Law Group for nearly four years and I can confidently say this is the best personal injury firm in Arizona to work for. The firm is the best for numerous reasons but to start, Phillips Law Group gives employees opportunities for promotions and growth. I started working within the settlement department, moved to a paralegal assistant and grew to be a pre-litigation paralegal with my own case load. Each attorney I have worked for is extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and easy to talk to. Secondly, I love how Phillips Law shows appreciation for employees. They host Friday Zoom Huddles giving out PTO, goodie bags, special shout outs, bonuses and gift cards. They also host extravagant holiday parties and fun contests during the Holidays! Lastly, the firm cares about giving back to the community, which is a trait I value as well. It’s rewarding to see a fast paced firm taking time out of their busy day to pay it forward. I would highly recommend working at Phillips Law Group!

I want to thank attorneys Tim and Robert and the paralegal Bethany for all they had done on my case. They were all empathetic, knowledgeable and professional. All my questions were answered, emails returned in a timely matter, and promises fulfilled. I recommend Phillips Law Group if you need help with your injury case.
