Comedian Robert Schimmel Succumbs to Injuries Sustained in Scottsdale Car Accident
People understand that Arizona car accidents can occur at any time and in any place, and these collisions can inflict harm on anyone, no matter how cruel the circumstances may seem afterward. Tragically, comedian Robert Schimmel has died from serious injuries sustained in a Scottsdale car accident that occurred on August 26. Police have arrested the driver of the other vehicle that was involved in the crash, and Mr. Schimmel's daughter, who was driving their vehicle, remains in the hospital.
According to police, this now-fatal Scottsdale car accident occurred on August 26 when Mr. Schimmel's daughter, 19-year-old Aliyah, was driving a Honda coupe on the 101 in Scottsdale with Mr. Schimmel and Mr. Schimmel's son riding as passengers. Suddenly, Aliyah had to swerve violently to avoid being directly run off the road by a passing SUV. As a result of this maneuver, their Honda did run off the road and landed in a concrete drainage ditch that ran alongside the shoulder. Mr. Schimmel suffered serious injuries but initially survived the crash. He has since succumbed to those injuries. He was 60 years old and a cancer survivor.

Arizona Personal Injury Lawyers
While it's likely that the driver of the SUV will face criminal charges, that doesn't preclude the family of Mr. Schimmel from filing an Arizona wrongful death lawsuit. If such a claim was filed and was successful, it could lead to an award of damages that compensate the family for losses that include medical, funeral and burial costs as well as lost income and loss of companionship. Mr. Schimmel's injured daughter could have a claim as well.
However, the decision regarding whether or not to proceed with such a claim should only be made with the help of Arizona car accident lawyers who have been successfully fighting for the rights of grieving families for many years.
