Woman Killed, Others Injured in UTV Crash in Yuma

UTV in the desertYUMA, AZ – A woman was killed, and several other people were injured in a UTV crash along a farm access road in Yuma on Sunday.

According to the Arizona Daily Independent, Yuma County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the scene of a single-vehicle crash near Avenue D and County 9th Street at about 6:43 p.m.

Investigators believe the driver of a Polaris UTV crashed into an irrigation canal before slamming into an embankment.

All four occupants of the vehicle were transported to Yuma Regional Medical Center. One passenger, 50-year-old Soyona Gomez, succumbed to her injuries at the hospital.

Another passenger was airlifted to a facility in Phoenix for treatment.

Investigators are working to determine if impairment was a factor in the crash.
