GLENDALE, AZ - Two people are dead and three are recovering in the hospital after a disastrous rear-end collision involving three vehicles that took place in Glendale Saturday night.
According to AZ Central, the accident happened near the intersection of Glendale Avenue and Glen Harbor Boulevard at around 11:30 p.m.
Police say a motorist was traveling westbound on Glen Harbor Blvd. when they rear-ended the vehicle in front of them. The initial crash forced the second car into oncoming traffic where it was struck by a third vehicle.
An unidentified woman and teenager who were passengers in the second vehicle died in the crash. The vehicle’s driver was transported to a local hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
One occupant in the vehicle that caused the crash was also transported to the hospital in stable condition. The other remained at the scene and is cooperating with the police. No one in the third vehicle required hospitalization.
An investigation into what may have caused the crash remains underway.
