Two People Hospitalized After Apartment Fire in Phoenix

PHOENIX, AZ – A man and a woman were hospitalized early Wednesday morning after they jumped from the balcony of a northwest Phoenix apartment building to escape a fire.

The blaze erupted at the Desert Meadows Apartments near the intersection of 43rd Avenue and Bell Road at about 5 p.m., CBS 5 reports.

Upon arrival, firefighters discovered a man who had been seriously injured after jumping from the second floor balcony of his apartment. He was rushed to a nearby hospital in critical condition. A woman was also hospitalized in stable condition.

Their current conditions are not immediately available. No other injuries were reported at the scene. However, firefighters say at least three people were displaced by the fire.
