Two Dead in West Phoenix Car Crash; Six More Hospitalized

ambulance responding at nightPHOENIX, AZ – A man and a woman died, and six others were injured following a multi-vehicle crash in West Phoenix on Monday.

According to KGUN 9, the collision happened shortly after midnight along Grand Avenue near the intersection with 37th Avenue. A driver crashed into a vehicle that had just been involved in another non-injury collision. That impact pushed the second vehicle into oncoming traffic where it was hit by a third car.

Overall, 11 people were involved in the crash. A man and a woman, the sole occupants of the third vehicle, were pronounced dead at the scene. All six occupants in the second vehicle, including twin toddlers and a three-year-old child, were transported to a nearby hospital with unspecified injuries.

The man responsible for the collision was issued a citation and released from the scene. Police now believe he may have been impaired at the time of the crash. It is unclear if he will face any additional charges at this time.
