Tractor-Trailer Sheared From Cab in Mesa Crash on Loop 202

police car attending scene involving tractor trailerMESA, AZ – The hydraulic bed of a tractor-trailer was sheared from its vehicle after it slammed into a highway overpass on the Loop 202 Red Mountain Freeway in Mesa yesterday.

According to a report by 3TV/CBS 5, the incident happened at the Greenfield Road overpass at about 4 p.m.

Police say the tractor-trailer was traveling in the westbound lanes at the time of the crash. The hydraulic trailer bed, which was in the upright position at the time, struck the underside of the overpass and was subsequently torn from the cab. The trailer should have been in the down position during transport, and it remains unclear why it was not.

Fortunately, no one appears to have been injured. Delays were reported in the area and persisted into Thursday evening’s rush hour.
