Timothy Tonkin | College of Trial Advocacy

Phillips Law Group logoPhillips Law Group is proud to announce that Supervising Lawyer Timothy Tonkin has been selected as Co-Chairman of the State Bar of Arizona’s College of Trial Advocacy.

In this role, he will help coordinate the yearly intensive, five-day workshop, usually held in the first week of August. The unique program offers practical, hands-on training for lawyers to develop and refine the skills necessary for trying both civil and criminal cases.

Throughout the college, participants prepare and present a civil case for trial, including preparing motions, providing closing arguments, and going through a mock trial in a Maricopa Superior Courtroom with live judges, juries and witnesses.

The faculty consists of leading trial lawyers and judges from throughout the state, and the curriculum includes small group sessions, exercises and lectures from the esteemed faculty. Participants receive one-on-one coaching and attention as they work to improve their trial techniques.

As an accomplished Phoenix personal injury lawyer, Tonkin is regularly asked to participate in and lecture for educational events that help the growth and development of his peers. He is certified in injury and wrongful death litigation by the Arizona Board of Legal Specialization and has served as a “Fee Arbitrator” for the State Bar of Arizona. He has regularly lectured at “Lunch and Learn” seminars hosted by the Arizona Association for Justice.
