PHOENIX, AZ - Three people, including two children, have been hospitalized following an accident in Phoenix Sunday night involving a suspected drunk driver.
According to 12 News, the collision happened at about 7:30 p.m. close to the intersection of 43rd Avenue and Camelback Road.
Police believe Alfredo Enriquez was driving eastbound on Camelback after having been turned away from a liquor store for attempting to purchase alcohol while visibly intoxicated. He crashed head-on into a passenger vehicle while attempting to turn left on 41st Drive, injuring a 6-year-old girl, a 5-year-old boy, and a 41-year-old woman.
All three victims in the other vehicle were rushed to a local hospital to be treated for serious, potentially-life threatening injuries.
Enriquez managed to escape the scene on foot before police arrived. However, he was located at his home and taken into custody soon after. He is currently facing charges of aggravated assault and leaving the scene of an accident.
