Teen Hit By Car Outside Laveen School in Hospital

Stock image of pedestrian crossing signLAVEEN, AZ – A teenager is in critical condition after he was struck by a vehicle outside of a Laveen high school on Tuesday morning, Fox 10 Phoenix reports.

The incident occurred at about 8 a.m. as students were arriving at the Betty H Fairfax High School on 59th Avenue.

Investigators say the 14-year-old student attempted to cross the street outside of a crosswalk and into heavy traffic before being struck by a northbound vehicle.

The teen was rushed to a nearby hospital with serious, potentially life-threatening injuries.

The driver who struck the boy remained at the scene. No charges or citations have been filed against that individual at this time.
