Phoenix Crash Leaves One Teenage Driver Dead

A teen driver died Saturday night, Aug. 22, after a two-vehicle crash in Phoenix. According to Arizona Family News, Jonathan Felix, 18, was driving a Chevrolet Equinox SUV north on 87th Avenue at approximately 11:30 p.m. at Lower Buckeye Road when a pickup truck crashed into his SUV.

Sgt. Tommy Thompson with Phoenix Police said the pickup truck driver,21-year-old Enrique Garcia, did not stop for the red light at 87th Avenue before colliding with the SUV. Garcia showed signs of intoxication and was arrested, according to investigators. He has been charged with second-degree murder. The investigation of the accident is ongoing.
