Police Identifying Victim of Thursday’s Pedestrian Crash

TUCSON, AZ – A woman was hit and killed by a vehicle in south Tucson last Thursday evening.

According to KGUN, the crash was reported at about 7:40 p.m. within the 500 block of West 22nd Street, near the intersection with South 10th Avenue.

Officers say 36-year-old Shayla Denise Johnson was attempting to cross the roadway outside of a crosswalk when she was struck by a 2014 Chevrolet Express van traveling west on W. 22nd St. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the van was not impaired at the time of the crash. It is unclear whether they will face any criminal charges.
