Red-Light Crash Monday Afternoon Causes One Death

traffic light up closePHOENIX, AZ – A woman was killed Monday afternoon when another driver ran the red light at a west Phoenix intersection and collided with her vehicle, CBS 5 reports.

Police say the driver of a Ford pickup truck ran the red light at Thomas Road and 55th Avenue at about 12:30 p.m. The Ford collided with a Nissan Versa, then two additional vehicles that were stopped for the light.

The Nissan’s driver, 57-year-old Aurea Lilia Gomez-Gamaro, was rushed to a local hospital, where she died a short time later.

No one else sustained serious injuries in the crash.

It is unclear at this time if the driver of the Ford will face criminal charges.
