Police Find Man Who Hit Officer and a Police Cruiser

PHOENIX, AZ – Investigators with the Phoenix Police Department have released the identity of the individual responsible for striking a police car and officer during a traffic stop on September 21st.

According to AZ Family, Dontez Irvin, 26, was driving a suspected stolen vehicle when officers followed him into a motel parking lot near 19th Avenue and Northern Avenue.

When the officer in the passenger seat stepped out of the vehicle, Irvin sped towards him, striking both the officer and the open car door. He then fled the scene, and later abandoned the vehicle.

The officer involved received treatment for minor injuries following the incident.
