Victim of Motorcycle Vs. Bicycle Crash Identified

PHOENIX, AZ – The 59-year-old bicyclist killed in a collision involving a motorcycle last Saturday has been identified by Phoenix police.

According to a report by the Arizona Republic, Jay Knauss was struck by a 17-year-old motorcyclist while riding his bicycle on Thomas Road near the intersection with 24th Street.

Knauss was riding in a designated crosswalk area at the time of the collision. However, police are still unsure if the crosswalk had been activated.

Knauss was pronounced dead at the scene.

The motorcyclist was rushed to a nearby hospital in critical condition, where he remained as of Monday. It is unclear if he will face criminal charges.
