PHOENIX, AZ – Commuters were diverted around a busy section of State Route 51 for several hours following a major collision early Sunday morning, Fox 10 Phoenix reports.
The incident occurred shortly before 12:30 a.m. within the southbound lanes of the freeway near Bell Road.

The circumstances leading up to the crash are unclear at this time. However, all southbound lanes were closed for nearly eight hours, reopening at 8:25 a.m.
