PHOENIX, AZ - A woman was fatally struck as she attempted to cross a street in northwest Phoenix on Sunday night.
According to ABC 15, 42-year-old Lukina Yazzie was crossing near 21st Avenue and Indian School Road at about 10:30 p.m. when she was hit by a tan Chevrolet Tahoe traveling westbound.
Emergency responders pronounced Yazzie dead at the scene. Police say she was outside of the designated crosswalk area when the incident occurred.
The driver of the Tahoe was gone by the time authorities arrived. However, the vehicle was found abandoned sometime later near 24th Avenue and Thomas Road.
