TUBAC, AZ – One man was killed and two others were seriously injured after a hit-and-run collision on I-19 last Friday.
According to Nogales International, the accident took place just after 9 p.m., as three individuals were changing the tire of a passenger van in the southbound lanes of the interstate.
A Ford SUV sideswiped the van while the men were working on the tire. One of the men was thrown into the roadway, where he was fatally struck by a second vehicle. He has since been identified as 19-year-old Rodolfo Valenzuela.
The other two men were rushed to a Tucson hospital for treatment.
The Ford left the scene before authorities arrived. No arrests have been made in connection to the fatal wreck at this time.
