One Dead, Six Injured in West Phoenix Hit-and-Run Crash

ambulance responding to emergency at nightPHOENIX, AZ – A woman has died and six others sustained injuries following a hit-and-run collision caused by a suspected impaired driver in west Phoenix last night.

According to ABC 15, a southbound Kia Soul was hit by a Hyundai Sonata as it turned left from 43rd Avenue onto Indian School Road shortly before 11 p.m.

Both occupants of the Kia were rushed to a nearby hospital. The passenger, 63-year-old Cheryl Anderson, succumbed to her injuries a short time later.

Three of the Hyundai’s occupants got out of the vehicle and fled the scene on foot. The remaining three, including the driver, were hospitalized in unknown condition.

Investigators believed the driver of the Hyundai may have been impaired at the time of the crash.
