Police Searching for Driver Involved in Fatal Hit-and-Run

PHOENIX, AZ – Police have released additional details regarding a fatal pedestrian hit-and-run that took place at 31st Street and McDowell Road on Easter Sunday.

FOX 10 reports that the incident took place at about 9:30 p.m. on April 4. 43-year-old Leroy Romero and an unidentified 43-year-old woman were crossing McDowell within the designated crosswalk when they were struck by a westbound SUV, which drove off without stopping.

Romero died at the scene, while the woman suffered only minor injuries.

Police believe the vehicle involved in the crash is a silver Dodge Nitro. They are continuing to search for its driver.
