Multiple Accident Victims, Two Fatal in Crash on US-93

fire truck at nightWICKENBURG, AZ – Two people died and five others sustained injuries following a high-speed crash involving four vehicles on US-93 near Wickenburg on Friday night.

According to Fox 10 Phoenix, the accident took place when a DPS trooper stopped to assist an SUV that was low on fuel just outside of town. The trooper agreed to follow the SUV into town, as its driver was afraid of being stranded without gas.

As the patrol car and SUV traveled southbound on US-93, a northbound vehicle crossed the center line and struck both vehicles at high speed. The SUV then rolled over onto the roadway, and the patrol car burst into flames.

Occupants from the fourth vehicle involved in the collision sprang into action, pulling the trooper from his burning car. He was airlifted to a Phoenix hospital in serious condition.

One occupant in the SUV was pronounced dead at the scene. Two others sustained unspecified injuries. The driver of the speeding vehicle was also killed. Two passengers in the speeding vehicle were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

Further investigations are ongoing.
