PHOENIX, AZ - A pedestrian was struck and killed while attempting to cross a street in the South Mountain Village area late last night, ABC 15 reports.
The collision happened near the intersection of Central Avenue and Baseline Road at about 11 p.m. on Wednesday, April 7. An unidentified 40-year-old man was crossing Baseline outside of a designated crosswalk when he was struck by an eastbound Jeep. Emergency responders transported him to a local hospital, where he died.
The driver of the Jeep remained on the scene and cooperated with police. Investigators do not believe speed or impairment were factors.
