Pedestrian Killed in Early New Year’s Day Collision

PHOENIX, AZ – Troopers with the Arizona Department of Public Safety were forced to block a portion of I-17 for several hours Friday morning following a fatal pedestrian accident.

According to CBS 5, the pedestrian was struck in the southbound lanes of I-17 near Dixileta Drive at about 2 a.m.

The unidentified pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene of the crash. No further details about the fatal collision have been made available at this time.

The southbound lanes of I-17 were diverted for at least three hours following the incident. Investigations were ongoing as of Friday.
