22-Year-Old Suffers Severe Burns in House Fire

ambulance racing down roadPHOENIX, AZ – A man was rushed to the hospital in critical condition after being injured in a house fire in north Phoenix on Thursday afternoon.

According to CBS 5, the fire broke out at about 1 p.m. at a home near the intersection of 43rd Avenue and Union Hills Drive.

Firefighters arrived to find the two-story garage completely engulfed in flames. They deployed hand lines to the back of the house and began climbing up.

A 22-year-old man was discovered on the outdoor stairwell attempting to get down from the second floor. He had sustained serious burns to both his face and upper torso. The unidentified man was taken to Maricopa Burn Center for treatment.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
