Stock image of emergency vehiclePHOENIX, AZ – Police have arrested at least one individual they say fled the scene of a deadly collision in a stolen car early Friday morning.

According to CBS 5, the two-vehicle crash took place shortly after midnight within the intersection of 71st Avenue and Thomas Road in West Phoenix.

The cause of the two-car crash is unclear at this time. However, one person involved in the accident died at the scene, and another was transported to a nearby hospital in serious condition. Both were evidently occupants of the same vehicle.

Police say multiple suspects in the other car stole a Chevrolet Avalanche whose driver had stopped to assist the victims and subsequently fled the scene with weapons and ammunition they removed from their car. Police later located the vehicle and suspects at a residence near 75th Avenue and Palm Lane.

One individual was taken into custody at the home. It is unclear if any other arrests were made.
