crosswalk stripes at nightPHOENIX, AZ – Police in Phoenix are searching for the driver who fatally struck a pedestrian and then fled the scene on Monday night.

According to CBS 5, a white pickup truck hit the 51-year-old male pedestrian at about 10 p.m., as he was crossing in the area of McDowell Road and 67th Avenue. The victim was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries a short time later.

The driver responsible for the fatal crash was last seen speeding north toward 67th Avenue. CBS 5 did not provide a description of that individual.
