13 People Hurt in Multi-Vehicle Crash Due to High Winds

ELOY, AZ – Severe winds and dust led to a major collision in which 13 people were injured along I-10 Wednesday afternoon, CBS 5 reports.

The multi-vehicle accident occurred at about 3:40 p.m. in the eastbound lanes near State Route 87. It is not clear how many vehicles were involved, or what circumstances led them to collide.

Firefighters fought through near-zero visibility to rescue the crash victims. Thirteen people sustained injuries, five of whom were taken to the hospital for further treatment.

Luckily, none of the injuries are believed to be life-threatening. The roadway was shut down for over an hour, reopening to traffic before 5 p.m.
