ANTHEM, AZ – One person was killed and another was injured early Monday morning when a car hauler detached from, and then collided with, the pickup truck that was towing it.
According to ABC 15, the incident happened at about 5:30 a.m. when the car hauler became detached from a pickup truck in the northbound lanes of I-17 near Daisy Mountain Drive.
Responding officers believe the hauler then landed on top of the pickup, killing one occupant and injuring a second. The extent of that person’s injuries is unclear at this time.

At least two northbound lanes were closed as a result of the crash, forcing traffic to merge into the far left lane. Photos of the incident suggest that traffic was heavily impacted for some time.
