One Dead Following Crash in Midtown Tucson

TUCSON, AZ – Investigators with the Tucson Police Department are working to determine the cause of a collision that resulted in one man’s death early Monday morning in the 3600 block of East Fort Lowell Road at North Dodge Boulevard.

According to KOLD News 13, the single-vehicle midtown crash took place just after 5 a.m.

Johnny J. Rodriguez, the 29-year-old driver of a black 2017 Nissan Rogue, died at the scene.

Following an investigation of the incident, detectives and officers concluded that Rodriguez was headed east on Fort Lowell Road, when the vehicle he was driving suddenly crossed over the center lane. The car struck several fixed objects on the northern side of the roadway before coming to a stop on North Dodge Boulevard.

According to police, excessive speed was likely a contributing factor in the collision.
