One Dead Following Crash in West Tucson

TUCSON, AZ – Deputies with the Pima County Sheriff’s Department reported a single fatality following a multi-vehicle crash Monday afternoon.

According to a report in the Arizona Daily Star, the three-vehicle collision was reported at about 2:30 p.m. along South Sandario Road near West Snyder Hill Road.

Investigators say 83-year-old Harrison Willar was traveling north in a Toyota pickup truck on Sandario Road when he failed to slow down for traffic that had built up behind a work truck. Willar’s vehicle collided with the rear of a Dodge pickup at a high rate of speed and then struck a Volkswagen sedan.

Willar was pronounced dead at the scene. No other serious injuries were reported, but the road was shut down for several hours.
