Pedestrian Killed in South Tucson Hit-and-Run Crash

multiple police cars at night lights onTUCSON, AZ – A 56-year-old man was killed in a hit-and-run collision on Tucson’s south side on Friday, KOLD reports.

The incident took place at about 9:30 p.m. as Marcellus McCutchen Burks was attempting to walk across 6th Avenue near the intersection at West Columbia Street.

Police say McCutchen was walking outside of the designated crosswalk area when he was hit by a 1980s-model Ford pickup truck. He was pronounced dead at the scene soon after.

The driver responsible for the fatal crash fled before authorities arrived at the scene.
