Fatal Pedestrian Accident on I-10 in Phoenix

PHOENIX, AZ – A pedestrian walking along a busy interstate was struck and killed early Thursday morning.

According to the Arizona Republic, the pedestrian was hit at about 4 a.m. as they were walking along the westbound side of I-10 near the exit to 75th Avenue.

Troopers with the Arizona Department of Public Safety pronounced the victim dead at the scene. The driver, who stopped and cooperated with authorities, is not expected to face any charges at this time.

The westbound lanes of traffic were closed at 67th Avenue for the duration of the investigation. It remains unclear why the pedestrian was walking on the busy roadway.

The identity of the victim is being withheld pending further investigation into the crash. We will continue to monitor this ongoing story and provide any relevant information that becomes available.
