Gas Line Explosion Kills Two, Injures One in Coolidge

COOLIDGE, AZ – Two people died and a third was severely burned after a gas line exploded just outside of Coolidge on Sunday, KTAR reports.

The pipeline, which is managed by Kinder-Morgan, was part of the El Paso Natural Gas Company system near Randolph Road and SH-87.

Authorities received reports of an explosion in the area at about 5:30 a.m. A woman who suffered serious burns was picked up by a sheriff’s deputy after she was discovered walking around a nearby farmhouse. She has since been identified as Rosalina Alvarez.

Police say two people were found dead inside a home located across the street from the site of the explosion. The two deceased are believed to be Luis Alvarez and his 14-year-old daughter. However, that information has not yet been confirmed.

The cause of the explosion remains under investigation.
