DUI Accident in West Tucson Leaves One Dead, Five Hurt

police respond to fatal dui crashTUCSON, AZ – A woman was killed and five other people were hurt in a single-vehicle crash near downtown Tucson early Sunday morning.

According to KOLD News 13, the incident occurred at about 3 a.m. when the driver of a 2012 Ford Fusion failed to negotiate a curve near the intersection of South Mission Road and West Starr Pass Boulevard. The vehicle skidded off the road and slammed into a traffic signal pole.

One passenger in the Ford, 19-year-old Kallista Rayanne Segura, suffered fatal injuries in the wreck. The driver and two other passengers were hospitalized in serious condition.

Two other individuals in the vehicle were treated for minor injuries at the scene.

Police determined the driver was impaired when the fatal crash occurred. The driver will likely face a number of charges upon release from the hospital.
