Catalina Crash Kills Woman, Injures Two-Year-Old

police cars behind do not cross lineTUCSON, AZ – A woman died, and her two-year-old daughter was rushed to the hospital after a single-vehicle collision near Mt. Lemon on Sunday.

According to KOLD, 42-year-old Laura Rodriguez lost control of her vehicle while driving on the Catalina Highway, causing it to crash down an embankment.

Deputies say the vehicle drove off the side of the mountain, ejecting both the driver and her child.

Rodriguez was pronounced dead at the scene. Her two-year-old daughter was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the incident.
