Police Suspect Fatal Crash was Caused by Drunk Driver

PHOENIX, AZ – A man was killed after being struck by a suspected impaired driver on McDowell Road Monday night.

According to ABC 15, the collision occurred at about 9:30 p.m. along McDowell Rd. at the intersection with 69th Avenue.

Investigators believe the driver of a Ford F-150 was traveling at a high rate of speed in the westbound lane of McDowell Rd. when he struck a van that was turning left from 69th Ave.

Both motorists were transported to a nearby hospital, where the driver of the minivan was pronounced dead. The driver of the truck sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

Police suspect impairment may have been a factor in the collision.

No further information has been released at this time.
