Elderly Woman Killed in Pedestrian Crash in Phoenix

PHOENIX, AZ – A woman was killed after being struck by a vehicle at a busy north Phoenix intersection early Tuesday morning, CBS 5 reports.

The incident took place at about 1 a.m., as the 70-year-old woman was crossing outside of the designated crosswalk near 67th Avenue and McDowell Road.

The unidentified woman was rushed to a nearby hospital, where she died a short time later. The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. No foul play is suspected at this time.

Witnesses told police the woman was attempting to cross without yielding to the vehicle.
