YUMA, AZ - KYMA KECY reported that an elderly man was struck and killed while crossing a busy street in Yuma last Wednesday night.
The incident occurred at about 9 p.m. when a Chevrolet Cobalt struck the 77-year-old man as he and his dog crossed the street in the 500 block of West 8th Street.
Paramedics transported the man to Yuma Regional Medical Center, where he was then airlifted to a hospital in Phoenix. The man succumbed to his injuries at about 2:30 a.m.
The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with officers from the Yuma Police Department. Police do not believe impairment is a factor in the accident, but the investigation is ongoing.
