Elderly Couple Dies in Suspected High-Speed Crash

PHOENIX, AZ – Two people in their 80s died following a single-vehicle collision in North Phoenix Friday afternoon.

According to CBS 5, the accident occurred around 1 p.m., when a Tesla sedan careened off of Bell Road near the intersection with 56th Street and struck a tree.

Emergency crews pulled 83-year-old Henry Deihl and 81-year-old Diane Deihl from the extremely damaged vehicle. They were both pronounced dead at the scene.

Further investigation determined that speed played a role in the fatal collision.
