Motorcyclist Killed in East Side Collision

Tucson Police responded to a fatal collision involving a motorcycle and a vehicle at the intersection of Kolb Road and 19th Street last Saturday night. Tucson fire personnel arrived on the scene to render aid to a 59-year-old motorcyclist. He was determined dead at the scene. Officers said he was not wearing a helmet at the time of this accident.

According to KOLD News 13, the motorcyclist was riding northbound on Kolb Road and about to make a right turn onto 19th Street when he was struck from behind by an Acura TL car. According to witnesses, the Acura was speeding, traveling at over 80 miles per hour. The crash spanned three blocks north from 19th Street.

Detectives interviewed one occupant of the Acura but are asking anyone with information about this collision to call 88-CRIME. Interviews and roadway evidence determined that excessive speed contributed to the crash. The investigation is ongoing, and no charges have been issued.
