Suspected DUI Crash Kills Pedestrian in Phoenix

PHOENIX, AZ – A Phoenix man was killed after being struck while attempting to cross the street near Thomas Plaza early Friday morning.

According to ABC 15, the accident occurred near the intersection of 31st Street and Thomas Road at about 1:00 a.m.

Police say the 63-year-old male victim was crossing the street in a wheelchair outside the crosswalk when he was hit by a motor vehicle. The 24-year-old driver remained at the scene. Investigators believe he may have been impaired at the time of the crash.

An investigation into the incident remains underway.
