Three Die in Possible DUI Crash in Scottsdale

SCOTTSDALE, AZ – A six-year-old child and two adults were killed as the result of a suspected drunk driving collision in Scottsdale last Saturday night.

According to ABC 15, the accident occurred at about 9:35 p.m., when a black SUV collided with a red sedan within the intersection of Dobson Road and Chaparral Road.

Police believe the driver of the SUV, 46-year-old John McDonagh, was traveling at a high rate of speed when he collided with the rear of the sedan, which was waiting at a stop sign.

Both a child in the back seat of the sedan and a woman in the front passenger’s seat were pronounced deceased at the scene of the crash. The sedan’s male driver was rushed to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries a short time later.

McDonagh refused to take a field sobriety test at the scene. He was arrested and booked on charges including aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, speeding, and extreme DUI.
