Impairment Suspected in Fatal Chandler Wrong-Way Crash

CHANDLER, AZ – One person died following a suspected DUI collision along I-10 early Wednesday morning.

According to CBS 5, troopers were notified of a wrong-way driver near the exit to Ray Road at about 12:30 a.m. Moments later, they received reports of a serious head-on collision just west of Chandler Boulevard.

One driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver responsible for the crash, a 25-year-old woman, was taken to an area hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. A third driver was also involved but was not seriously hurt.

Investigators believe impairment played a role in the crash. The identities of those involved are being withheld pending further investigation.
