PHOENIX, AZ – A driver was rushed to a local hospital after a serious collision in southwest Phoenix late Thursday night.

According to CBS 5, the two-vehicle crash occurred at about 10:45 p.m. near the intersection of 51st Avenue and Southern Avenue.

Police say two people were taken to the hospital as a result of the collision. One of the drivers was transported with serious, potentially life-threatening injuries while their passenger sustained less serious injuries.

Investigators are working to establish an official cause of the crash. However, they believe speed may have been a contributing factor.
