TUCSON, AZ - One person was killed and another arrested following a two-vehicle crash in the Three Points area on Monday morning.
KGUN reports that two pickup trucks collided at about 6:37 a.m. at the intersection of South Cherokee Lane and West Scotland Road.
Deputies with the Pima County Sheriff’s Office say the driver of a Nissan pickup, 20-year-old Alejandro Herrera, drove through the northbound stop sign on Cherokee Lane and was struck by a Chevrolet Silverado. Herrera then exited his vehicle and fled the scene on foot, leaving his two passengers inside.
An adult male passenger in the Nissan was pronounced dead at the scene. The other passenger was taken to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The sole occupant in the Chevrolet was unhurt.
Herrera was hospitalized as well at some point, although the chain of events is not clear at this time. He has since been charged with leaving the scene of a fatal collision and reckless driving.
If you have lost a loved one due to the reckless actions of a hit-and-run driver on Arizona roads, you may be eligible to seek compensation for damages you incurred as a result.
